Jawaharlal Nehru University was established in 1969 by an act of parliament.It was named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister. G. Parthsarthi was the first vice-chancellor.Prof. Moonis Raza was the Founder Chairman and Rector.The bill for the establishment of Jawaharlal Nehru University was placed in the Rajya Sabha on 1 September 1965 by the then minister of education, M. C. Chagla. During the discussion that followed, Bhushan Gupta, member of parliament, voiced the opinion that this should not be yet another university.
Jamia Millia Islamia was established on 29 October 1920 at Aligarh, by founding members Shaikhul Hind Mahmud al-Hasan, Mohammad Ali Jauhar,Hakim Ajmal Khan, Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari, Abdul Majeed Khwaja, Zakir Hussain.In 1925 Jamia shifted from Aligarh to Karol Bagh, New Delhi.On 1 March 1935, the foundation stone for a school building was laid at Okhla, then a non-descript village in the southern outskirts of Delhi. In 1936, all institutions of Jamia, except Jamia Press, the Maktaba and the library, were shifted to the new campus.

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), formerly Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), is a public collegiate university in Lucknow in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It was established as the Uttar Pradesh Technical University through the Government of Uttar Pradesh on 8 May 2000. To reduce workload and to ensure proper management, the university was bifurcated into separate universities, Gautam Buddh Technical University and Mahamaya Technical University, with effect from 1 May 2010.In 2013, as a new government came into power, the university was formed again by combining the two on 5 January 2013.
